Free MLB Picks insider reports that the San Diego Padres have lost 7 straight games and are now only leading the NL West by three games over the San Francisco Giants.
The Padres will start an 11-game home stand at Petco Park beginning tonight with the Colorado Rockies who lost a heartbreaker yesterday to the Philadelphia Phillies at home.
San Diego also lost a tough one on Wednesday as their bullpen gave up a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning allowing four runs to lose 5-2 to the Arizona Cardinals.
The Padres will try to get back on track with a minor league starter in Cory Luebke who making his first major League start. Luebke was a stud in the minors going 10-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 19 outings as opposing hitters had a batting average of only .200 against him.
The Colorado Rockies have beating the Padres in 8 out of 12 games this season and will try to come back from a loss that will hurt their wildcard standings after the Phillies came back from 4 runs down to win 12-11.
Our baseball insiders for Free MLB Picks report that the Rockies will start Aaron Cook who is 4-8 with a 5.34 ERA and hasn’t pitched in over a month due to a sprained right toe that had him on the disabled list. Cook was struggling before his injury going 0-3 with a 13.97 ERA averaging 3 ½ innings pitched in those starts.
This is a tough stint for the Rockies as they went home to play a makeup game in which they suffered a damaging loss both in the standings and to the psyche of the team. Cook was awful before he was injured and it will take some time for him to get back in midseason form.
It will be a tall task for the Rockies to come back after yesterday’s lost facing a pitcher that they have no scouting report on who will bring his best stuff in his major league debut.

Jrtips News:Oakland Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers NFL Preseason Preview and Free Pick
JrTips football insiders for NFL Weekly Picks report that the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco Giants, two Bay Area teams meet on Saturday night to play their 3rd game of the NFL Preseason and both teams look like they are on the rise. Each team won last week and looked impressive as the Oakland Raiders and their new quarterback Jason Campbell beat the Chicago Bears.
Campbell looked in control of this offensive going 10 for 20 throwing for 170 yards and he will have a lot of help this season with a strong running game as Michael Bush who had eight carries for 26 yards will be the featured back while Darren McFadden brings the homeruns threat. They also have strong backups in Michael Bennet and Rock Cartwright plus a potential pro Bowl tight in Zach Miller who will be a good safety blanket for Campbell.
The Raider defense looked dominating last week against the Bears as kamerion Wimbley had six tackles and four sacks in only a half of play while their number draft pick Rolando McClain looks like he will make a real impact this season.
The 49ers showed promise last season and have a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball and Alex Smith has clearly claimed the job as the number one quarterback. Our football insiders for NFL Weekly Picks report that the 49ers have the best running back in the division with Frank Gore who ran for a 1,000 yards for a fifth straight year and the offensive line which was a problem last season looks like it has tremendously improved. The receiver position is loaded with talent featuring pro bowl tight end Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree and new comer Ted Ginn from the Miami Dolphins.
The 49er defense which was ranked #1 in their division last season looks even better as they were aggressive with the rush even in the preseason and had four sacks against the Vikings including one on the first series against Brett Favre. San Francisco may feature arguable the best defensive player in the NFL in inside linebacker Patrick Willis who is a tackling machine.

This season for the first time in 45 years a head coach, Joe Paterno will start true freshman Robert Bolden at quarterback in their opener Saturday against Youngstown State. It is a big feat for a freshman quarterback to become an opening day starter especially since they only have from the summer until the start of the season to impress their coaches.
Bolden was a four-star recruit out of Michigan and ranked the fourth best quarterback in the nation by EnterBetcom. Bolden who stands 6 ‘3 threw for 1,013 yards and rushed for 535 in his senior year in high school and will look to lead Penn State for the next four years.
